I would be interested in both "quality assessment/control in translation" and "PDF files and other electronic problems" suggested by Peter Linton.

IMPOSSIBLE TO REGISTER!!! Sep 29, 2005

Hi dear organizers!

I´m finding it impossible to register for the conference with my credit card. The whole system goes "in circles", after taking me to the shopping cart it takes me again to the personal data form, then to the bill and then again to the shopping thingy, once and again...

What seems to be the problem? (oops, typical question for a doctor, hehehe!) Until what time is it possible to register tomorrow? (EU time pleazzzze)

A third question is: is it possible to pay through Paypal WITHOUT having a Paypal account? I think so, when I had an account in Paypal my customers used to pay through it with a credit card (just checking).

Thank you! I hope I manage to pay as "early birdy" and join you at the Conf!

See you

yep, I'm here... ;)) Sep 30, 2005

Hello Teresa,

I can't answer your question about PayPal, but as concerns credit card payment the system seems to work because many people managed to register since you posted. Are you sure you filled in all the fields correctly? If it still doesn't work, why don't you file Support Request via this link so our techies can see what is wrong?

HTH,
Magda

PS Early bird deadline Sep 30, 2005

Me again.
The "early bird" deadline expires today (EU time!), but we allow a 'grace period' of 3 more working days. So, don't worry! Discounted payments will be still accepted until Wednesday the 5th.

Best,
Magda

Thank you Magda Sep 30, 2005

Thanks for your answer!

I´m going to try once again, also through Paypal.

It´s a good thing that you´ve extended the deadline for birdies like me, who always do everything in the very last sec!

(Hopefully) see you in Krakow and good luck with the organization!

TERESA

and the speaker is... Oct 2, 2005

Is it just me or some sessions have no speakers?

I am not talking about panel discussions, but sessions like intellectual property rights, financial or legal.
There is a description entered, but no name/profile.

Any reason?

The reason is a bug in software which makes two speakers invisible.
Hopefully the programmers will get into this on Monday.

Number of registrations Oct 18, 2005

I see from the Hotel System website that they can cater for conferences of up to 150 people. We are already at 125, with five and a half weeks to go and I know, from Powwow experience, that we translators are often only able to commit at the last minute.
It's a nice problem to have but do we have any contingency plans I wonder, in case the numbers should escalate?

Don't worry, ther are enough hotels in Cracow Oct 18, 2005

so we surely find another accomodation if necessary.
The conference rooms themself might be a bigger problem

Nevertheless, this shall be a great event!

Regards
Jerzy

Indeed, we are getting closer and closer to the maximm capacity of the conference hall (150). I'd rather suggest not to wait with registration till the last minute - it may happen that we won't be able to accept all and will have to close the list.

Isn't the purpose to have as many people as possible? Oct 19, 2005

I also think there might be more people who wish to register and given that this is a major event (and more accessible, than Oxford, where some of us needed visas), it might be nice not to limit the number of participants due to space limitations.

P.S. I was also wondering if there will be any event where we will all be in the same room. I assume the sessions will be held in different rooms, and since not all people will attend all sessions, the number of participants will always be lower than the total number of people registered for the event.

Marketing-related sessions? Oct 23, 2005

Maybe this is still pending?
I would very much appreciate that, because there are no other sessions referring to marketing things, as far as I see.
Alex Eames in Oxford was a great succes. It would be great if he could come.:-)

PDF files and other electronic problems Oct 27, 2005

Any interest in a talk about how to handle PDF files? How to convert them into editable fomat.
I gave a talk on this at the Oxford conference, and woud be happy to give an updated version in Krakow.

Yes, I'd be interested too.

Sessions' schedule Nov 1, 2005

I have found that the sessions' schedule is ready and have some questions about it:
Does this mean that the programme is final and there won't be any new sessions?
What if 5 of my sessions are scheduled in a way, that I should choose only two of them? Is it possible to change their times and probably have some sessions after 16:30?
I wouldn't mind having session time till about 19:00.
