Dear All
Thank you very much for registering for the Trados training. As you are probably all aware, this was the first time we attempted to run a full-day training and as a consequence, there were some teething problems.
Not only had I underestimated the time it takes to teach the concepts, I had also not expected that it would be so hard to teach beginners and intermediate/advanced users in the same session and satisfy everyone's expectations.
A learning outcome for me personally is that users with different skill levels need separate training courses and I hope I'll have the opportunity to do put this newly gained knowledge into practice in next such sessions, which certainly shall come - in Budapest at the latest.
Nevertheless, I very much hope that you all got something out of the course on Sunday and I would very much appreciate it if you could give me feedback on the session, either publicly here in the forum or by e-mailing me at doku hyphen trans dot de.

Hi Jerzy,
Thank you for all the work you have put into preparing this training.
I must say, though, that I agree with the suggestion that this type of training sessions should be split into different levels, probably three.
I went there as a complete beginner, having only set up the program in my laptop and gone through the tutorials and part of the documentation. I found that the session evolved quite fast into a level that was too high for me to follow.
I will do my best to be in Budapest, and I would encourage you to try and deliver this training again, but this time split by levels.

Hi Jerzy,
Thank you so much for the training course. You set up an incredibly ambitious agenda, and you actually managed to deal with most of it. Those handouts will be very useful indeed, they must have taken a tremendous amount time to prepare.
As you said, we were all acting as guinea pigs (or rabbits, if you are German) for this training session. Of course, the whole concept will need some optimisation, but the start was very successful. There was something for everyone. Although the morning was aimed at the beginners, even the more advanced users were still able to pick out very useful little tidbits as well. The afternoon session dealt with more complicated topics and some of us got a little lost at times. Nevertheless, parts of the more difficult bits did become clear latter on - I had several "aha" episodes the next day when the penny dropped. After nearly 11 hours of hard concentrating, I was completely drained and my brain was smoking. But that is the way it should be.
IMHO, this training session was particularly valuable because it was held by a very experienced user who is a translator, not some marketing chap from Trados who goes by the book and who does not really understand what a translator needs. You explained a lot of useful settings that represent shortcuts which would have required a lot of trial and error to find or which are not necessarily obvious at first sight. These little tips and tricks are priceless.
Thank you for being so patient with us. I for one, enjoyed the day very much and it was also a great bonus to meet some more Prozies face-to-face, particularly Per Magnus, Jacqueline McKay, Catherine (Horizons) and you, of course.

Hi Catherine,
no offence was meant I can assure you! I wasn't aware of this meaning. It is what some of the German Proz members call each other and it just slipped off my fingers whilst typing without another thought. Sorry. We never cease to learn do we? I noticed this morning that Henry uses "Prozians". I stand corrected. I cannot edit the text because 24 hours have passed.
