Present a Joint Seminar on

“Translation Business Development”

Saturday, September 30, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The American University, Mary Graydon Center, Butler Board Room

Join us for panel discussions about the business of translation, designed for beginning and seasoned translators alike, as well as translation students. During the morning session, a panel of translation buyers representing translation agencies, the federal government and other clients will discuss what they want from their translators from the client/employer perspective.

In the afternoon, small business experts will explain what it takes to run a viable freelance business, how to organize and structure a business and how to plan your taxes. In our last panel, working translators will talk about their personal experiences breaking into the profession and give tips. Each session will include a question-and-answer period, and refreshments will be served.

Admission is free for NCATA members and for university students and faculty with a university ID. For non-NCATA members, admission is $25, which includes membership in NCATA through 2007. All attendees must pre-register by September 26 by e-mailing [email protected].

The American University is located at Ward Circle on Massachusetts and Nebraska Avenues in Northwest Washington, DC. Parking is available free of charge on campus on weekends. A shuttle bus runs from the Tenleytown Metro to campus (present this invitation to board).

View a map of the campus at http://www.american.edu/maps/campus.htm.

For more information, contact Professor Jack Child of the American University Languages and Foreign Studies Department at [email protected] or NCATA President Alexandra Russell-Bitting at [email protected].
