Very interesting indeed! Sep 27, 2007

I didn't know about it either! So many events at the same time in the country of your choice! Are these kind of events held every year across Europe?

Cheers!

About the European Day of Languages Sep 27, 2007

About the European Day of Languages: "Council of Europe decided to declare a "European Day of Languages" to be celebrated on 26 September each year. "

The first European Day of Languages took place on 26 September 2001. It was one of the highlights of the European Year of Languages.

The European Year of Languages 2001, jointly organised by the Council of Europe and the European Union was successful in involving millions of people across 45 participating countries. Its activities celebrated linguistic diversity in Europe and promoted language learning.

On the eve of the closing event of the Year, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe decided to declare a "European Day of Languages" to be celebrated on 26 September each year. This decision was taken in response to a recommendation by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which had been actively involved throughout the campaign.
