The creativity of ProZ job posters never ceases to amaze me.
I have just seen a job where the poster offers a small 60-word project, then requires applicants to translate a 30-word sample text.
LOL ! I didn't know where to open this thread, but I think it's very funny, so I think it fits here.
Translate 30-word sample text and you will be awarded ( maybe?) a grand 60-word project.

But I had to make it funny for this Lighter side of trans. forum.
Where else to post it?
It could have been a rant, but let's view it as a funny thing. We've been ranting for a long time, and did that change anything? Unfortunately not.

That is certainly the lighter side, showing how some folks post jobs and requirements without giving a minute to think on it. Better even than the agencies requiring French or Russian natives for Span to Eng translations.
A few months ago there was a job posted for a 58-word translation that the poster was going to do herself, but needed it certified because her regular translator was busy.

The solution is quite simple. Ignore these postings!

Two days ago, there was a job posting in English> Hindi and English>Bengali thread seeking a translation of 62 words. It also provides a sample test. After counting I found the sample test consists of 62 words !! The agency tried to choose the best translation from many at totally free of cost !! What a idea !!!

Keshab, if you took the trouble to count the words, and proved that the sample mandatory translation equaled the word amount of the assignment, I pray you have taken the trouble to denounce the outsourcer. They might have got a free translation this time, but a bad reputation costs much more than a 70-word translation fee!

This was just posted yesterday (already received 17 quotes). I have no doubt it is not a scam; based on the job title alone, they do need a reviewer!
"Spelling and Puntctuation review - 66,200 words"

I find those frequent 'job postings' by TermWiki absolutely side-splittingly hilarious.
