It's about a "pilotless drone". Funny

Indeed. Feb 10, 2007

This man should receive a free gift for his efforts.

My favorite example of tautology Feb 10, 2007

Besides "helpful assistance" and "new innovation" is "free gift". This one takes the cake, IMO. Not quite sure if this pun came across after reading Vito's outburst.

))))))

I'm still actively working on fundamental basics of tautology... Feb 10, 2007

Not quite sure if this pun came across after reading Vito's outburst.

... but if I don't get any better, I'll never improve.

Nice to know that other people care, but that guy needs a life Feb 10, 2007

Agree with Steven.

How pathetic that someone has so much time on his hands that he expends energy/free time calling a newspaper to berate people by voice mail.

I had a boss like that. Not a clue about how to motivate people or at least how to avoid de-motivating people.
Really irritating and naturally led to lower productivity.
A productivity crash, actually. Everyone in "hen-house mode" and thinking about revenge, not the clients.

Would be interesting if he ever calls to say something nice and the blogger put that on the air as well. (But with cranks I guess that is unlikely.)

Other tautologies to get bent out of shape about:
current status, general consensus, universal panacea.

Helpful assistance Feb 11, 2007

I'm not sure if this is a tautology. There's plenty of unhelpful assistance about, from MS Word's "Office Assistant" for example.

Röschenhof, anyone? Feb 11, 2007

For those of us who understand German, here's one of my favorites. It's also a valuable reminder not to take KudoZ too serious...

Personal opinion Feb 11, 2007

My personal friends all have personal opinions.

(My impersonal friends have other people's opinions.)

Blurb on a book cover: XXX is changing the way historiography is written.

And a few favorites for Spanish-speakers:

Veremos a ver.

No puede ser posible.

Eso puede afectar el entorno del medio ambiente que nos rodea. (Direct quotation from a university professor!)

Los niños son el futuro del mañana.

And my all-time favorite:

Creo que lo dudo.

I've always been perplexed by the French (correct) expression: les cheveux hirsutes..
also.... à partir de dorénavant (as from now, from now on)
and
au jour d'aujourd'hui - to be linked with the ' this moment in time' above...
