Usually it is complicated to see South American aboriginal languages being translated into European languages other than Spanish. But now we can see a new reality: Guarani, one of the most vibrant languages of South America, being translated into and from Catalan.
We can only hope that this is the beginning of a new trend in linguistic diversity!

Not quite sure it's good news

OK! Will Linguamón receive financial support from the Paraguayan Government or the people who speak Guaraní and are interested in the language? Very probably not. Linguamón and this kind of projects are funded by Spanish citizens (all citizens and not just Catalan citizens), who at the same time have to see how difficult it is to have your children be taught in school in Spanish in Catalonia.
Somehow I suspect that in a few years it will be a far easier in Catalonia to recieve tuition in Guaraní than in Spanish. Sounds crazy, but makes total sense given the situation.

Commonalities amid the differences

It’s interesting to note that the number of native speakers of both languages are about on the same order (about 5 million Guarani; 6.6 million Catalan by 2006 estimates). In each of their respective principal regions (Paraguay, Catalonia), they are the majority language.
