Hi everybody
First, I hope I had chosen the right forum for my doubts. Now the question is: Which phrase is the correct one? I see that it is more common to say “Secador de cabello” o “Secador de pelo” for “Hairdryer”. I see it is more used “Secador de cabello”, however in Spanish “pelo” is used for animals, while “cabellos" to refer to human beings.

En efecto, en España se usa cabello para los humanos, sin embargo tambien se dice "cortar el pelo" o "secador de pelo". A los animales se les "pela" o "recorta el pelo".

Si tu pregunta se refiere al secador, se dice "de pelo" no "de cabello".

Secador de pelo para el cabello May 12, 2006

Aunque suene un tanto extraño, acá en Chile, el aparato se llama "secador de pelo", pero queda más eufónico y mas elegante la palabra cabello, si es que la utilizas para referirte sólo al pelo. Tal vez la diferencia es que "pelo" se refiere a cada hebra del cabello y cabello al total y es más formal.

Muchas gracias por todas las respuestas. Bien, me decidì por "cabello" aunque es màs comùn ver el tèrmino"pelo", sinembargo el cliente estuvo conforme.
