I just bought the Oxford Dictionary of English Etymology and I'd love to read more opinions not only on this book but on other etymology dictionaries in English, abridged and unabridged.

The easiest thing for you to do is to download and buy eReference. That's the digital version of the best one I know: the American Heritage dictionary of the English language. http://www.houghtonmifflinbooks.com/eref/
