I need an officcial EN TRANSLATION - if available - of three verses that have 'turned up' in a job I'm doing (to my horror!):
Que la tierra florezca en mis acciones
como en el jugo de oro de las viñas,
que perfume el dolor de mis canciones
como un fruto olvidado en la campiña.
Que trascienda mi carne a sembradura

There is nothing official about Pablo Neruda. He has something to say to all of us and normally does so in language we can all understand. So give it a try yourself, if he were atill around I think he would be glad to see you do it!

It would take me hours/days to even attempt to do justice to the poem............
I was completely unaware that these verses were included in the text....uncredited, translated to PT. I wasn't contracted to translate poetry, which is another ballgame altogether. One or two lines maybe, but not three verses....
So if I can't find a published translation, I will provide the original ES, plus suggestions for substutition with a translated poem/verses taken from the site that Monica suggested (PoemHunter)....

Try this site. There supporters of Neruda. But, I think you'd better translate them yourself. You know, the famous aphorism, "the author is dead" so you just can translate their works with all your taste and style of language.

you have all the excuse to use free verse.
I agree with Henry: get into character and "hack" it. Remember Nabokov:
What is translation? On a platter
A poet's pale and glaring head
A parrot's screech, a monkey's chatter
And profanation of the dead.

That's the other problem, one doesn't throw off a few lines of poetry like one would a few lines of text! Even free poetry!
