vie

***

zawsze kiedy chcê ¿yæ krzyczê

gdy ¿ycie odchodzi ode mnie

przywieram do niego

mówiê - ¿ycie

nie odchod¼ jeszcze

jego ciep³a rêka w mojej rêce

moje usta przy jego uchu

szepczê

¿ycie

- jak gdyby ¿ycie by³o kochankiem

który chce odej¶æ -

wieszam mu siê na szyi

krzyczê

umrê je¶li odejdziesz

***

The effect in Polish is reinforced by the personal and possessive pronouns relating to \"life\" which are identical to masculine forms (otherwise \"life\" is neuter), unlike the French \"à elle\" (lui, sa, son are luckily sufficiently ambiguous in French to cover both genders).
