I am learning, could you please help.

The client sent me a game localization file. The file is in Exell.

She asked me to translate the lines 1-45.

The file has columns: A,B,C,D

A has function names,

B has English text

C has Russian text

I did a software text translation before

If the English text already translated into Russian what is exactly I need to be doing?

I am learning, any explamnation or link for self study would be greatly appreciated.

I am also looking for a tutor, teacher with a payment. If you are interested I would be happy to get your email.

Thank you so much

Four options Aug 22, 2009

1. Does the client want a Romanian translation?
2. Does the client want the Russian translation reviewed / "localized"?
3. Are there further pages (bottom tabs) to be translated?
4. Ask the client what is required.

No the client clearly wants the trxt translated.

The text has English and Rusisan and she specially selected and highlighted my part.

Yesm there are further pages but the client is unaccesible, it is Saturday

JUST IN CASE: I thought that there is something that I do not know. IS there, the text should not be trabslated into Russian aready, right? if she wants translation.

Ah..

Clear up the misunderstanding with the client.

Ask the client Aug 23, 2009

There's no possible way anyone in this forum can help clear up your confusion.

Ask the client.

Hello Inka,
Of course the text needs to be translated but... your profile shows that you translate also into Romanian, so maybe your client needs Romanian translation.
But of course, as other colleagues advised before – double check with your client.
regards, Ewa

Ask the client Aug 23, 2009

If this is your first job in an area or for a customer in which you don't have any experience, the most sensible thing for you to do is to simply ask your customer about what they want. The only stupid question is the question you don't ask!

Perhaps this is news to you, but the translation of games and software in general is called localization. It is highly unlikely that the client would want a (localized, i.e. translated) game to be adapted to a different Russian dialect and call this a "localization" job. Some sort of a misunderstanding is a lot more likely.
