I am a new translator and would like to try MT and chose one that is suitable for me. I translate Arabic into French.
So far, i tried Google and Microsoft but it is not very good. Google is a little bit better than Microsoft.
I made some research, but it is very difficult to find MT for Arabic-French. Most of the MT translate from Arabic to English but not to French...
I would like to know if someone can give me some advices and ideas.
Best regards,
Suzanne Oum Ayoub

Hi Suzanne,
Check out the company Cimos based in Paris.
Also look into the work done by the French Telecom research team in Lannion France.
Hope that helps.

Yes, i already know about CIMOS, i found them with a goole search some weeks ago, but, i do not know if it is good or not... because since then, their website do not work :
Concerning France Telecom, i did not find anything. I made many search today but no joy. I will try again.
Someone told me that, concerning arabic, the best one is still Google translate, but i am ready to try other MT to compare.
Best regards,
Suzanne Oumm Ayoub

Hi Suzanne,
Cimos won the 3rd place LangTech2003 award for their semantic MT approach for their Arabic MT engine. I interviewed them at the LangTech2003 conference.
