That's what happened. Did this ever happen to you?
Since it's an international check, it might take 30 (up to 60) days to pay, and the payment is already late.
I just said I wouldn't cash the check and I asked them nicely to send the money by wire transfer, but I suppose they have to stop the check and pay other additional fees.
Thanks, Veronica

Hi Veronica, Before complaining to the agency, try to ascertain the real cause of the problem. Was the cheque issued by themselves (i.e. does it bear the company's signature(s)), or by a bank? In the latter case, it's possible that they thought they were instructing a bank transfer but may not have given clear enough instructions (alternatively, some important details of your bank account may have been missing), as a result of which the payment was eventually made by cheque.

Once you've established this, it will probably be best to cash the cheque this time, and to ask them to refund you for the additional fees (and possibly for any lost interest) with the next invoice. Commercial principles are one thing - creating unneccessary costs is another.
