Ah, an EXCELLENT translator! As opposed to what? Reminds me of a road sign in my town that reads "Stop for Pedestrians in Crosswalk". I always wondered why it was necessary to clarify that - do some people really think stopping is optional and just run the pedestrians over?

3.As there are many matches parts in our projects, CAT tools are used to keep the consistence of the terminology and thus there is a CAT discount.

Want to bet they are using the CAT tools = consistency argument to charge the client MORE while at the same time paying the translators much less?

Not this year, but I've had some odd jobs. One was a big multinational that wanted to increase its SEO by having lots of misspelled key words (it's involved in genetics with long words that people often make mistakes with). So basically I was asked to provide three misspelled versions of about a thousand different words in English. Getting paid for knowing how to spell badly!

And that reminds me of a road sign I saw in Malawi: "GIVE WAY TO ELEPHANTS".

Check out the latest! Dec 16, 2011

A "featured opportunity" is now offering Spanish-to-English translators the chance to earn 3 euro cents per word, with payment in 90 days, for weekend work.

The good news? No references, tests, or upfront paperwork required.

In the case of certificates Dec 17, 2011

a question of repetitions and full matches is really relevant. It could be worth of, ast least, considering.

Today's job on Proz Dec 19, 2011

We are currently seeking translators from English into the following language pairs:

The translation in itself is relatively short, around 500 words.
Deadline is yet to be confirmed.
Trados user or equivalent CAT tool users preferred.
Native speakers only.

Please send CV + rates to .... in the subject line, alongside your language pair(s).

They will loss more paid time with sorting of offers than ANY savings, which they could generate from the "tender".
