Like 10-20 words I don't even have to look up on the internet? What should I do: 1. Do it for free since it is a good client who has given me big jobs before 2. Bill them for 1-2$ [sounds kind of awkward] 3. Make the next bill for them 'slightly' higher, meaning: 'bulk' bill? What do you think, dear colleagues?

If it's a regular client, and especially if it takes little or no time to do, I would do it for free as an extra service.
Minimum rate or for free | Dec 3, 2004 |
Ask them if they are billing for this job. If they are, bill your minimum rate and, if they are not: Yoanna wrote: 1. Do it for free since it is a good client who has given me big jobs before This is what I do! Good luck! Marijke

I think that this decision depends more on the nature of your relationship with the client, as compared to the volume of past jobs. If you have established a professional and stable relationship with your client regarding to payment deadlines, work delivery deadlines and all, and if you are confident that any such favor will not change that relationship and possibly incite them to ask other concessions from you in the future, why not do something so small for free? This would help the relationship get even more better. Seeing that you name the client as "good", if you aren't only referring to the volume of past jobs, there seems to be no problem. ▲ Collapse

Do it for free as I did. I sent my bill for $223 then after a week and just before writing me the check my client gave me one more last page worth about $2. I could easily make it $225 but I didn't and told my client I wish him the best luck. After 2 months, my client's parents gave me some work.

and put small jobs at their worth on the list. But if its a different job, not relating to a bigger one, its better to charge a fix minimum. Depends also on the work load. When I'm in the middle of a big job and I have to interrupt it for looking up some other stuff I lose easily 50 bucks along. Educate your clients - easy said.
