Is Paypal a secure means of Payment?
I mean, I have to use my credit card in order to add funds to my Paypal account and make a payment to a translator. Is it safe to give credit card details to such an organisation?

I made a payment Dec 12, 2004

using PayPal and the system withdrew the funds directly from the credit card no. and bank account I had previously indicated to receive payments from my customer, without requiring any data.

As far as I know it is sure and reliable, but I also know that there have been a few attempts to steal PayPal passwords, exactly as it happens with other on-line transactions. I have been using it for over one year now and no problems sofar.

Ciao Andrea!

I have also been using PayPal on a regular basis, both to make and receive payments, and have never experienced any problems. The important thing, as Sabina pointed out, is to not fall into the trap of giving out your password to anyone, especially when you receive spam messages containing links to log on to the site and the suchlike. But I guess the same would apply to any other online payment system and PayPal is definitely a safe option, to the best of my knowledge.<

Paypal is pretty safe and convenient Dec 13, 2004

I use Paypal on a regular basis. You do not have to add anything to your Paypal account to pay somebody.

All you have to do is to have a confirmed Paypal account with registered sources of funding, such as credit cards (for credit card payments) and bank accounts for instant bank transfers. Paypal verifies your information before it lets you use the account.

All you have to do is to have a confirmed Paypal account with registered sources of funding, such as credit cards (for credit card payments) and bank accounts for instant bank transfers. Paypal verifies your information before it lets you use the account.

The beauty of this clearing system is that you do not have to give your credit card information to numerous clients (if they have an ability to run your credit card themselves - I, for one, have a merchant's account and run customer's credit cards myself), but only to one secure clearing house, and I never had any trouble with Paypal in any respect - security or otherwise.

I'm using Paypal to receive and make payments on a daily basis and am very happy with it.

Please, note that the person who will receive payment from you through Paypal will receive it less Paypal fee (in case the arrangement is to receive a full amount of the invoice, you will have to add a small amount to account for the Paypal fee).

Hope this will help.

Good weekend to everybody,

I wouldn't pay the fees... Dec 13, 2004

I wouldn't do that. If the person that is receiving the funds asks for payment through Paypal, they are aware of the fee, and should take them onto themselves.

When I get paid through Paypal, agencies or others pay me the invoice amount. And then I "eat" the Paypal fee, because I requested payment through that service. It is not the clients' fault.
