your daily attempt limit. As an additional security measure your
access to PayPal will be limited in the next 24 hours if you do not
verify your identity.

Please verify your details clicking on the link above, before trying to
log in again. You will be able to attempt logging into PayPal account
immediately after you verify your identity without any limitations
applying to your account.

When you click on the link it takes you to a page which is not secure (https: ) and looks nothing like PayPal's official site. You are asked to complete all bank information, including credit card number, expiry date, etc.
DO NOT under any circumstances reply - it is a scam. Forward the mail to [email protected]
Let your friends know if they have PayPal accounts. I have only had one for a month and I very nearly fell for this!

Hi Amanda,
Thanks for posting this - the practice of 'phishing' is pretty widespread, and isn't limited to Paypal.
However, openly including the related URLs defeats the purpose of your warning, doesn't it?
Could you please edit your posting by removing the offending URLs?

If it does, then please edit your posting and change it so no one goes there by mistake. You can insert a couple of spaces or slashes just to make the URL invalid.

The displayed URL is different from the URL described and contained in the email, that's the trick.
But by copying into the posting the "invisible" URL in the original anchor tag was lost. So there is no danger in this thread.

Be it your bank, paypal or anyone else, they will always send you a personalised e-mail (i.e. Dear Mrs. Grey, Dear etc.
You can safely delete anything without such an introduction.

I got one phishing e-mail where they actually did know my full name!
So, never trust any kind of e-mail, no matter how personal or official it looks, that requests any type of personal information. Particularly, since most of us have personal information such as name and e-mail address readily available to the public anyways.
If in doubt, call their office or send them e-mail through an offical address and find out if the e-mail is kosher.
