Hi,

My first post and already with a problem

Here we go... I have just finished my first job from the agency. The count for all the words was something like 740 words (both my and agency count). Some of these words are proper names and are included in the count. Could you please tell me know if I should charge for all the words in the text no matter if some of these are proper names? Perhaps I should only charge for the words that are translated?

Help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Aranka,

Welcome to ProZ.
To answer your question: yes, charge for all words, proper names, titles, etc included.

Good luck!

Should clients know your per word rate Feb 18, 2005

Hi,

My question is:

When asked for a quotation, do I inform the client of my per word rates or do I FIRST ask to see the text and based on its difficulty, length, etc., set a rate?

Basically, does the client have to know what I charge per word or is it fair enough that I inform him what his particular translation is going to cost, without going into detalis about word count? Do clients go for that?

Consistency in chargin is a big issue for me, I haven't developed a good charging method yet and I feel I am handling all sorts of prices....

How do you do it? Are there any sample quotations that I could see on the Web? (I am not interested in prices, only in the "quotation strategy", thank you....)

Thanks
