Hi everyone,

I am just wondering how those of you who translate poetry charge your clients. A word rate? Hourly rate? Or something else perhaps?

Many thanks for any ideas on this!

Sheila

For collection, anthology I typically agree on a price for whole job, including gathering, editing etc.

For smaller amounts, by "poetry page" i.e.
1 poem on one page -> 1 poetry page
2 poems on one page -> 2 poetry pages
1 poem on 2 pages -> 2 poetry pages
etc.

How abour Copyright? Jul 16, 2005

In my view, if someone translates poetry, she/he should be included as the author of that language version, hence in the Copyright, and the poems be published under the writer's and translator's name.
