Thread poster: Spencer Allman
Perhaps this has been posted before but how can I convert my rate for 1,000 words into a row count with rows at 60 characters?

Why don't you try using a counting software (e.g. Practicount) where you can customise number of characters comprising a line, etc.
Hope it helps,

If you use MS Word, simply go to Tools > Word Count and use the figure that you find under Characters (with spaces). If you want to get lines of 60 keystrokes, just divide this number by 60. That's all

In one word are approx. 6-8 characters, depending on language there are differences.
Try Fine Count 1.4, its the easyest way to count text.
Download it here: http://www.tilti.com/soft/finecount/

I use FeeWizard to convert ST/TT word/line/page counts. You can download it under
You just have to enter some statistics data from old translations and the programme calculates all rates you need.
