Hi all,

I would like to know what would be a "normal" rate for doing corrections of a translation from English into Spanish. The text is not technical, it's about astrology. Thanks a lot!

One third of what you'd charge for translating the same text Jun 12, 2006

This is a simple rule: One third of your translation price for proofreading+editing in one step, going three times faster.

I think you shall not apply any repetition discounts when editing, as a similar / 100% match sentence may have been written wrongly in a second ocurrence.

A piece of advice--If a memory tool was used to produce the translation, it is advisable to work over the unclean copy of the text, otherwise the TM of the project will not be updated with your corrections.

per hour Jun 13, 2006

I charge this kind of work per hour. If the quality of the translation is bad, you can get stuck for hours and charging per word won't reflect the time you spent.
Also remember that if your checking a bilingual file or a translation you'll be counterchecking with the English version too, that doubles the wordcount or time!!
