Various Nigerians are notorious for offering you anything between 10% and 30% of anything from US$ 1 to 30 million. The requests for \"urgent business assistance\" (or something to that effect) are usually signed with names like Mrs. Laurent Kabila, Maj.Gen. Okuma or Mobutu and whoever. Anyhow they want your bank a/c number and are eager to meet you personally. They come and get you to come to Nigeria (although they may claim other nationalities). Once there you have to fork up \"fees\" to bribe people and \"speed processing\". Some suckers have even been murdered once squeezed dry of every penny they own.

These people are probably using ProZ to target new victims. I say this because a colleague here at Xiangtan Normal University never received such offers (I\'ve been getting them for years) until I posted the latest job offer on this site. There is an outside chance of pure coincidence, of course.

Anyhow beware of such \"914 scams\" -- the name comes from the number of the article in the Nigerian Penal Code that bans this sort of activity. At least in theory.
