Hello

can anyone advise me please on the easiest way to do this? I'm living in France I have business account as I'm a translator & need to transfer money regularly to my UK account to pay off a loan and credit card in that account. I do use Paypal but when I checked it out it looks like I can only transfer money to an account here in France (which I already do) or in the US. I don't understand why it doesn't offer the option of transferring some funds to a UK account or maybe that's because it's with paypal France. The trouble is it is time-consuming and expensive to transfer money from my French account to my UK one - any ideas would be gratefully received, thanks.

Get the IBAN and BIC Mar 13, 2007

Hi!
The IBAN and BIC are located on British bank statements. The cheapest way is to transfer the money in Euros using the IBAN and BIC. Contact your French bank, should be realitively cheap. For me its free from Germany and I can even do it online.

do contact your bank Mar 13, 2007

Do contact your bank first, Jenny. I transferred euros from my French account to a UK account, using the IBAN and BIC, and it still cost me over 20 euros in charges...

Like Mara said Mar 13, 2007

It seems that practices vary quite a bit from bank to bank. My French account is with Soc Gen, and they don't allow on line international transfers. Other banks may. But Soc Gen need a signed piece of paper - at least, that's what they told me

(It's probably also true to say that practices may vary from branch to branch!)

I recommend popping into your branch and asking them precisely how they suggest you do it.
And yes, you will need the IBAN & BIC numbers for the UK account.
