A colleague told me that every translation work related to the media should be charged at a higher rate. I need to do an estimate on a 320,000 word computer training translation from English to Spanish. How much should i charge taking into consideration the volume and that it is media related? Thanks in advance for your help

What do you mean by "the media"?

A misunderstanding perhaps?

Is it possible that your colleague was talking about advertising-related text? Translating advertising text requires excellent copy-writing skills beyond regular language skills and therefore has a higher rate.
This is not the case here. Training text usually is written in a plain and comprehensible style, like manuals, etc.
I would simply charge regular rates / word.
One more thing: don't give discounts for large volumes - it's a very bad habit.
