Quite interesting, found out the hard way that people believed they understood what I was trying to say as I would always end up under either a hose, tap, shower or bucket. Needless to say, they were wrong, it wasn't precisely cold water what I wanted... Been a long time ago though... It's ginger beer times pour moi now (ie: Bundaberg, maaaate!!). Salut! P

It depends: French when drinking cognac, German, English or Dutch when drinking beer and Russian when drinking vodka etc. Definitely the best way to learn foreign languages! Or maybe just grunting instead of speaking

Uldis Liepkalns wrote: Any... And, believe me, with some success Uldis I once did a folklore conference in Moldavia. The congress organizers had rented a castle and stocked its cellars up for two weeks (the congress was 7 days). I soon found out that folklore fieldworkers were some of the heaviest drinkers around -- when they gather data around the fireside, they drink everything they're offered by the tribesmen (and still take notes). Well, after the second day, it became a real struggle to avoid socializing, or else you got into the booth with a hangover. On the fifth day, we ran out of beer (and they were serving it out of barrels). But you'd be surprised how everyone's English improved!
