See more Cariló is a very small village with a permanent population of barely two thousand inhabitants (compare with Mar del Plata that has 650,000 and 700 hotels), but in Summer is the exclusive seaside resort of the rich. It was planned by architects: no public lighting on the streets, no overhead cables, planned commercial areas (all the rest is residential), golf course, conservation of the forest, every detail was taken care of. Some years ago identification was required to enter into the village, as if it were a country club (and it seems like one). Nature is practically untouched: a large forest with beautiful houses in it, no coastal avenue, no paved streets...no even public lighting in the streets It is the ideal place for resting. Just have a look at the photos. I am sure you will enjoy them. It is the most expensive seaside resort in Argentina. There are only four and five star hotels with SPA, sauna, swimming pool and whatever you would expect. Here are two of the apart hotels of the area: http://www.carilosoleil.com.ar/galeria.php http://www.torrecillascarilo.com.ar/Serv_360.html If you want a quiet time at the seaside, you have found the right spot. And even though the prices are high, with the present exchange rate to the Dollar it is still affordable for your pocket... But remember: winter is very cold here, and the best season for visiting the area is November to March, especially January and February. You can check the weather forecast at www.weather.com or www.accuweather.com. Since Caril?is a small village, look for the forecast of Villa Gesell or Pinamar. Both towns are less than ten miles away from this beautiful spot. Enjoy it. Robert Ingledew [Edited at 2004-04-23 00:33]

I have been on the Amazon at three different cities: Iquitos (Perú), and Manaus and Belem in Brazil. Probably I did not pay too much attention to the Amazon scenery because I have been in similar landscapes on the Paraná river in Argentina fishing for dorados. In any case, it is very interesting. The city has a lot of history, and although it is not the most dangerous city of the country (that would apply to Medellin), it is certainly wise to try to not go out on your own when visiting this beautiful city. Traffic is VERY slow, one we took one hour to cover a distance of less than two miles, but that of course depends on the time of the day and where you are going. The city is surrounded by mountains, and of course that means occasionally some smog, but not as much as you would find in Mexico City or in Santiago (Chile). The city of Bogota has probably some 6 million inhabitants, or more. (I have just read it has 6,700,000). If you decide to stay in this city, the North area is safer than the South, and I found a good and nice 4-star hotel called Cosmos in Bogot?North. I also stayed at the Tequendama, but that area is not completely safe. I am writing this article in answer to a request for information on Bogota, so I am going to search for some history and some photos now.
