I have gone alone for a long walk yesterday, after a long winter of sitting home. I have some problems with my heart, and I was afraid of going out. You gave me courage.

New Info Mar 9, 2004

Taken from an email just received.

Date: Mon, 15 Dec 2003 06:33:33 -0800 (PST)
From: Francesca Pierre
Subject: Origine du cancer du sein
To: Undisclosed Recipient

temps perdu.

Merci

The thread won't be broken Apr 10, 2004

Do not worry Emanuela, the thread won't be broken (by the way, sorry for taking so long to answer -- which is in itself a living proof that even if we do not write, we stay connected).

I receive letters from colleagues of the Proz community every week. Short, discrete letters, inquiring about my health and how I'm feeling. So you see, even if we live in a fast world, even if everyone is too busy to come often on the forum, I KNOW colleagues DO think about me.

And... talking about religion. Even if I talk to God quite often, there are days when I have my doubts too. One day, I was walking on the sidewalk with my aunt. My first chemo treatment was coming in a few days and I was afraid. I said in my head: "God, if you hear me, give me a sign that my Proz colleagues are still thinking about me. For example, if I was to find something with a heart shape, right here on the street, I would believe they still care for me". Well... believe it or not, half a kilometre later, there was a beautiful felt heart, right there at my feet on the sidewalk! But that's not the end of it: I found two more hearts in the following weeks. How's that!

Keep thinking of me, I love that (religion is powerful, but I believe that caring and sending good thoughts to someone is just as powerful).

Thanks, Emanuela

I had my fourth and last chemo treatment last Tuesday (April 27). Things are a bit tougher this time, maybe because of the cumulative effect but not doubt, things will get back to normal in a few days. Radiotherapy is coming in June (23 treatments) and soon, this whole experience will be behind me.

In time, the memory of these difficult times will get dimmer and dimmer but I’ll never forget the support received from the Proz community. It has helped me far beyond what anyone could imagine. As a matter of fact, I am convinced your warmth, your friendship and prayers have contributed to my healing far better than all the medication I took

Hoping to remain “one of the guys” for a long-long time!

Me too... Jul 23, 2004

I'm a bit worried too. I sent Merline last e-mail almost a month ago but never wait for a reply for I thought it would be kind of tiring for her having to answer each and every message she received. I hope she's taking a little rest just before restarting the engine and rejoining us.

Merline, we will be here, waiting for you...

Hugs,
Gaby.

Hi everyone! Jul 26, 2004

Hi wonderful friends!

I finished my radiotherapy on July 14.

For months, I was tired, I didn't have work and I had a rough time financially.

All this is now behind me.

On July 15th, the day after my treatments ended, I began getting more work from my customers than I could handle (which is usually rare in July).

One of my brothers offered to take me on vacation in the Maritimes (East of Canada, near the Atlantic). I'm leaving tomorrow morning at 5:00 am. (I am so excited -- didn't take a vacation for years!).

Didn't have time nor energy to come on the forum and let you hear about me but I was thinking of all of you, my wonderful Proz family, EVERY DAY. You prayed for me but I prayed for you too all the time.

When I get back from these vacations, I still have a lot of work to do. But sometime towards the end of August, I'll tell you more.

I LOVE YOU ALL

Please forgive the mistakes. I have so many things to prepare before tomorrow I don't have time to re-read myself. Just wanted to let you know that I am fine. In fact, I think I'm doing great!

I'll be thinking of you on my vacation.

All the best Jul 26, 2004

Dear Merline,

I don't know you, you don't know me,
but does it matter?
My father just finished his radiotherapy as well
and is a bit better now, I've seen the results.
So, even if I don't know you personnally,
I still send you all my best wishes
and all my positive thoughts
And I hope you'll have the best holiday ever.
