I just read a job posting that made me smile on this Monday morning.

The job in question was into German and the poster had asked to specify the variant in the application, i.e. European, Latin, etc.

Latin German, wow. I didn´t know we were that exotic

Hi Manuela Aug 22, 2011

Right, it looks funny

But the underlying reason must be rather prosaic: in the previous job by this outsourcer needed translation into Spanish or Portuguese, and simply forgot to change the settings.

Hi Natalie Aug 22, 2011

that´s why I´ve posted it under "off-topic", because it wasn´t meant all that serious.

I assumed that it must have been forgotten to remove from some previous posting

yes, sure Aug 22, 2011

but that wasn´t the point I wanted to make.

Seemingly it wasn´t perceived as "off-topic", therefore please feel free to delete this post. Thanks.
