Another topic in this forum is about possible Hindi equivalents to the English sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog", using all the letters of the alphabet.
I thought it would be interesting to learn of such sentences or phrases in other languages using the Latin and other alphabets.
TASS in Russian used to send a test transmission that came pretty close to this for Russian (use Cyrillic Windows-1251 encoding to read what follows)

(Would a cactus live in the groves of the south? Yes, but a false example.)
This doesn't make a lot of sense and it lacks two letters - the hard sign and the "ö" (ts), so maybe it can be improved on.
What is the equivalent in your language?

Although the literal translation "hýzlý kahverengi tilki tembel köpeðin üstünden atlar" was used in the Turkish version of MS Office, it doesn't include all Turkish letters.

Some other Turkish sentences including all Turkish letters are as follows:

(use Turkish Windows-1254 encoding)
"Bugün fýstýkçý þahap deðil jöleci yavuz alsa olur mu"
"Muþ sefahat pasajý önündeki borçlu yorgun bir aðýzla cevapladý"
"Pijamalý hasta yaðýz þoföre çabucak güvendi"

Dutch quick brown fox May 23, 2005

The Dutch version: zijn dom exquis wijfje bracht vlug kip (his dumb but exquisite little wife quickly brought chicken).

Not the most "feminist" of sentences, but it was coined in another era. And it works.

Dutch: letter missing May 23, 2005

The letter "y" is missing, Benno...

A few other possibilities:

- Filmquiz bracht knappe ex-yogi van de wijs (Film quiz confused handsome ex-yogi)
- Sexy qua lijf, doch bang voor 't zwempak (Sexy body, but afraid of the swimsuit)
- Pa's wijze lynx bezag vroom het fikse aquaduct (Dad's wise lynx devoutly looked at the robust aqueduct)

Since I've always used English versions of Windows, I never knew the Spanish version of "the quick brown fox", and it just made me laugh hard!

En cuanto a que faltan la CH y la RR, ¿no que la RAE las había eliminado? ¿y qué pasa con la LL?

Hola Timothy,

"Ch" y "Rr" ya no son letras según la Real Academia Española de la Lengua: son dígrafos (Ortografía de la Lengua Española, 2000).
