Could somebody provide a quick fix for me for the conversion of Word 2003 tables to Excel 2003?
Thanks.

Try a plain copy-paste Sep 4, 2005

Generally, a copy and paste works pretty well. Have you tried that?

Copy/paste works well if the table is simple (no merged cells) and the cells do not contain any manual end-of-line characters or paragraph (Return) characters.

Another option that might be more convenient for a large table (to save you the trouble of counting cells) is:

1. If necessary, select the table in the the Word document and then copy and paste it into an empty document.

2. Select the table, then select 'Convert table to text' in the Table menu. In t

2. Select the table, then select 'Convert table to text' in the Table menu. In the 'Convert Table to Text' window, select 'separate text with commas'.

3. Save the word document as an ASCII file (.txt format).

4. Change the file extension of the saved file to 'csv' (the 'native' format of Excel documents).

5. Open the .csv document and then save it as an Excel document.

The above procedure will also only work with 'simple' tables whose cells do not contain manual end-of-line or Return characters.

Maybe Word 2003 has an option to export a table to Excel (I use 2000, so I wouldn't know).
