"Hello!!!

How are you? My name is Liliya. I am 26 years old. I live in Russia, city Yoshkar-Ola. I am cheerful woman, and like to do many things as sport, camping, go to the cinema, theatre etc. In a word I like to do all what like all people....
I wish tell to you history which have pushed me write to you. 8 months ago I have got acquainted with the man from other country by name Justin. During this time we had good relations. We have
understood that our relations become serious and we have decided to meet in his country. I wrote the application for reception the visa....I and Justin waited reception of the visa to our meeting.
I have received the invitation from the ambassador for reception of the visa.
I informed good news to Justin, but he has answered, that does not want our meeting. He has informed that has the wife with two children and at all has no plans to meet me. I could not think what even after 8 months of acquaintance he
can so unscrupulously act with me.
I could arrive already through 4-5 days, but a problem in that that now I have no man which would like my arrival. Probable it will silly sound but if you will be interested in a meeting with the good woman I shall like to meet you sometime soon!... It would be fine if we could meet, do friendship or more than simply friendship....
Please, write to me back
Liliya."

Well, I am a mother of two, and somewhat older then she is. I have no interst in meeting other women for more than friendship.
Anyone out there, interested?

I looked up the town, and sure enough, there is a website, which informs me: Yoshkar-Ola is a famous "dating scams" area. It is a small city with no jobs available. According to our information, there are many scam groups in Yoshkar-Ola that are using photos of young women and write letters to men pretending to be "a Russian woman seeking for a husband". Most "writers" are male students of the local university, department of foreign languages.
www.womenrussia.com/blackpage3.htm

The ony interesting thing is, that the "natives" of the area speak mari, which is one of the rare Finno-Ugric language groups, like my mother tongue, Hungarian.
Alas, we wouldn't understand each other, even if "she" was indeed 26 years old, 6'2", with piercing blue eyes, and a fetching moustache.

By the way, JUSTIN, I am disappointed in you!

Hilarious! Jan 30, 2007

I still don't understand how these people can imagine we are stupid enough to get suckered in... Or do really that many people fall for this, so that there is actually a market for this?

On the other hand, if these people are stuck in a small place with no jobs, I can understand why they resort to this. But they could also instead envisage moving to a place where they would have better luck...

That is why these scams persist. Even the Office of Fair Trading is offering advice to lonely hearts.

Though I don't think they'll have much success if they continue to contact mums of 2!

As for Justin, It's gotta be something about the name. What a cad! I hear Cameron Diaz isn't too happy with him either.

Needless to say, I wrote back immediately and gave him all of my IM ID's and threw in my National ID and Passport numbers for good measure.

Andrea, I have to hand it to you.

And the guy is getting younger as the text goes on. I estimate his age at about 12 by the time he finished this letter.

And you forgot to enclose the picture of your feet!
