We got off the Titanic first. We can scare male bosses with mysterious gynecological disorder excuses. We can cry to get out of a speeding ticket. Taxis stop for us. We don't have to fart or burp to amuse ourselves. If we forget to shave, no one has to know. It's ok for us to cry in front of our best friends. We can get other people to do all the dirty work simply by smiling the right way. We never have to reach down every so often to make sure our privates are still there. If we're dumb, some people will find it cute. We can talk to people of the opposite sex without having to picture them naked. There are times when chocolate really can solve all our problems. We'll never regret piercing our ears. We can dance with, hug or kiss another member of our sex without everyone staring and snickering. We can fully assess a person just by looking at their shoes. We can drive, put on makeup, drink our coffee, plan meals for a week, and talk on the cell phone all at the same time. We know the truth about whether size matters. We can sleep our way to the top, and then sue for sexual harassment. If we cheat on our spouse, people assume it's because we're being emotionally neglected. We can quickly end any fight by crying. Happy International Women's day! ▲ Collapse

... but I wanted to add that I look forward to a time when there is no longer a need to celebrate International Women's Day. I hope it will seem like a quaint idea to be honoring half the world's population as if we were a special-interest group. I don't mean to take the wind out of any sails, but I live in a country that failed to pass the Equal Rights Amendment over 30 years ago, so I'm a little skeptical of attempts to 'celebrate' us. That is all.
