Is obtaining KudoZ points of importance or value to the translator? What do we need them for?

Nobody needs kudoz points. They are a symbolic reward. For the asker kudoz are a very effective research tool, in my opinion better than any dictionary. For those who answer questions they are a kind of quiz and a way of helping others. Some people take them a just a little bit too seriously and start arguments about terminology. I don\'t know if there are clients looking for walking dictionaries. Since freelance translators often work in isolation they tend to forget how important social skills are for business.
