Suppose you were given a chance to meet three dead persons. Who would you want to meet, and why? I'll start. 1. Stanley Kubrick - I would buy him a coffee, and ask him: "So tell me, Stan, what exactly is the whole point of 2001: A Space Odyssey? (the best movie ever artistically speaking, but did anybody ever understand its meaning while Stanley Kubrick - I would buy him a coffee, and ask him: "So tell me, Stan, what exactly is the whole point of 2001: A Space Odyssey? (the best movie ever artistically speaking, but did anybody ever understand its meaning while watching it?)" 2. Freddy Mercury - I would ask him why one band can give birth to so many fantastic songs on a hand, while so many bands can't give birth to one decent song on the other. And compliment him on his wonderful, wonderful voice, of course. 3. Cleopatra - I wouldn't ask her nothing specific, I would just be curious to meet the woman that "took down" two such Romans as Julius Ceasar and Anthony. She had to be attractive! ▲ Collapse | | | Nicole Schnell United States Local time: 09:41 English to German + ... In memoriam My preferred "dates" | Jul 29, 2007 |
Martin Luther - We would think up more theses over a couple of beers, write them up, then go to a copy-shop, make a ton of copies and sign-post them all across town. Voltaire - To spend hours of gorgeous rant and rave. Eleanor Roosevelt - For chat and laughter while making cherry pie | | | Gabi Ancarol (X) Italy Italian to Spanish + ... Jorge Luis Borges ... and I'd just listen to whatever he wants to say. Roland Barthes ... and I'd ask him soooo many questions. My father ... and I'd just look into his eyes and tell him how I miss him. | | | Jack Doughty United Kingdom Local time: 17:41 Russian to English + ... To meet Cleopatra, for example, you would have to know Latin and/or Egyptian. Or would you try to teach her English?

So many ... but would they want to meet me? | Jul 30, 2007 |
Gosh, so many, but to confine myself to three: 1. Charles Darwin - I'd ask him what he thinks about Richard Dawkins - and so much more. 2. Henri IV of France - what a guy! 3. Mme de Pompadour (aka Jeanne Poisson) - what a gal! But I'm afraid they'd all groan and think (or indeed, say) "Oh no, not again! They always ask the same questions". Good thread, Kind regards, Jenny. | | | Irene N United States Local time: 11:41 English to Russian + ...
I'd share years I have left with him to have him around, and I am no little girl any more... After all, I'd like to meet those who'd care to meet with me:-)
let's see... 1) Marilyn Monroe 2) Jane Austen 3) Judas I'm curious to pick their brains and see what their perspectives of the world are like. Have an nice chat over some mint tea and figure out how their brains function, why they made certain choices, and basically separate fact from fiction.

1- my grandfather, who died 12 years ago and who I still miss desperately 2- Marc Chagall- Because I would hope that over tea (in a glass) his conversation would be as magical as his painting 3- Roberto Fontanarrosa, the Argentine humourist who just died. I actually met him once at the Feria del libro years ago, and he was so gentle and funny...

Whose names His-tory didn't record. Actually, none of us has "last names" really. We should bear our mothers' last name, because that was the ancient custom... but their mothers' mothers' last names are buried by time and dust.......
