Yesterday I found in one of my folders \"Documents\" a file named \"spider.sav\", which I had never seen before. Since I\'m dead scared of viruses, of course I have not opened it and I\'ve \"trashed\" it immediately without even checking for the kind of extension it may have had.

Through a quick search on the Internet I\'ve found that it may be a trojan-containing file.

Yet, in the last fifteen days I\'ve never received any suspicious mails...

My question is... have you ever had any experience with this file? Do you know where it may come from?

P.S. The only thing I\'ve downloaded is the Windows Update for XP.

Thank you

Carla

Looks like a sound card driver (or part thereof) Feb 24, 2003

Have a look at this:

Still, I\'d be surprised to find it under \"Documents\"...

Yes, I had read it, too, and that is exactly what I\'ve thought.

Thanks,

It's a saved Spider Solitaire game Feb 24, 2003

Assuming that you play Spider Solitaire on your computer (as I do) - it\'s a saved game of Spider Solitaire which Windows saves by default in the My Documents folder. I\'ve had some of those \"spider.sav\" in my My Documents folder, sometimes intentionally (i.e. I did want to save the game), but generally not.

When you exit Spider Solitaire, it prompts you to save the game, and the default is \"yes\" - so my guess is that it\'s that. If you keep up on your antivirus software, you could scan the file with your antivirus software first, then open it, and see if I\'m not right...

Spider game :) Feb 25, 2003

I do not play Spider Solitaire, but my brother does, and he\'s been at home for the weekend. Then I checked it personally and when I saved the game I got exactLy the same file I had found.

Someone has been playing solitaire on your machine - spider.sav is the name for a saved game of Spider Solitaire (quite addictive, may I add). Nothing to fear.
