How to make the little 2 overscore for squared in Word Thread poster: David Jessop

This seems like something I should know but I can't figure out how to make the little "2" over score to indicate that something is squared in Word 2002. Anyone remember this off the top of your head?

Hi David,
Not sure if this works on your system (as I use a German keyboard), but ² works using Alt Gr 2. Alternatively, type "2", highlight it and use Ctrl +.

it's "Formato" "Fuente" "efectos" "superíndice".

AltGR + 2, Alt-Ctrl-2 or Alt-0178 should work an any program. And there's always Charmap.exe for more the occasional use.

hi david,
someone shoed me how to do it too....
go to the right of the top toolbar. there should be a tiny arrow pointing downwards, press it, choose add and remove buttons and then formatting. what you're looking for should appear on the list.

Write, for example, M2 for metres sqaured.
Then highlight the figure 2 only, choose format Font from the Format menu and select Superscript from the options by clicking the check box.
