Dear all,

I've encountered problem with converting word file into pdf. In the word file I have a number of links in the way like a name is linked to the webpage. While in the word file, they all work just fine, but when I try to convert the file into pdf, the links are mixed i.e. some names are linked to the wrong webpages.

Dear all,

I've encountered problem with converting word file into pdf. In the word file I have a number of links in the way like a name is linked to the webpage. While in the word file, they all work just fine, but when I try to convert the file into pdf, the links are mixed i.e. some names are linked to the wrong webpages.

I have checked and rechecked already thousand times the links in the Word file, but it still doesn't work. I'm not even sure if explained well. It is my
CV in Finnish and the problem box is the second from the bottom.

I have Acrobat 5.0 with Distiller and Word 2000. Maybe I just should try some other software. I know that there are plenty converter in the web, but have you tried to save links using them?

With my very best regards
Natalia

Hello Natalia!

there are several plugins for the newest version of Acrobat 6 and 7 available, which can save links. You can click the links after that.

With 5.0 you cannot acchieve results you'd like to have I suppose too.

Edit link Jun 17, 2005

Just edit incorrectly converted link using Acrobat tool "Link".
Or (better) remove this link from the Word document and create it "from scratch" in resulted PDF.

Button in the tool bar Jun 17, 2005

This button is called "Link Tool (L)" and it's icon looks like two chain links coupled together. Between the "Movie Tool (M)" and "Article Tool (A)".

Crosshear would appear. Paint rectangle around the area of the document where you want to create a link (for example around your name, or your pictiure).

Follow following instructions (from the Help):

To change the properties of a link:
1. Select the link tool , and double-click inside the link rectangle.
2 Change the properties of the link, as described in “Creating links” on page 98, and
click OK.

To create a link:
1 Navigate to the section of the document where you want to create a link.
2 Select the link tool . The pointer becomes a cross hair (+), and any existing links in the
document—including invisible links—are temporarily visible.
3 Create the link rectangle in one of the following ways:
• Drag the mouse to create a marquee.
• Press Ctrl (Windows) or Option (Mac OS), and select the target text with the I-beam.This
allows you to fit a link rectangle exactly around the selected text.
4 In the Create Link dialog box, choose a rectangle type:
• Visible Rectangle indicates that the link rectangle is visible. Set the appearance of the
link rectangle by choosing a width, color, and style.
• Invisible Rectangle indicates that the link rectangle should be invisible under normal
circumstances.

...

6 Choose an action type. This specifies the action that occurs when the link is selected.
For more information, see “Using actions for special effects” on page 179.

This is the most important point. Choose action type: "World Wide Web Link". Then click the buton "Edit URL" and enter correct URL.
