Error in Word

I have Office XP on Windows XP.
Word is having a strange behavior. When I close the program or even when I am working, I get the next message:

"Runtime Error!
Program:C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\WINWORD.EXE

Abnormal program termination."


Also, I can't insert tables from the Table menu, because when I select Insert, it doesn't open the list of options, they are not active.

When did Word work last time properly? Mar 29, 2006

Hello,

you may try System restore and put it back to the date when Word was working. This is always my first solution. I hope this will help you.

Start/ Programs/Accessories/System Tools/ System Restore

From the symptoms you describe, I would start with running a thorough antivirus check on your system.

"go to Add/remove programs and find microsoft office works add-in (something simmlar) and remove it and reboot."

Problem solved: partially Mar 30, 2006

It seems that the message error doesn't show up anymore, I couldn't say which is the reason.
Table menu still isn't available if I open a document by double-clicking on it; it is available only if I open a document opening the program first and then selecting Open and browsing for the document.
