Word 2000 Windows XP

I have managed to put a grey background to teh entitre Word text I'm working on. How do I remove it and then add it back only to one section?

TIA:-)

Sounds like shading Aug 31, 2006

I wonder if this is shading rather than a background.

First select the text, then under Format, go to Borders and Shading, then select the Shading tab.

The box to the right of the grid will normally say No Fill, but if you have inadvertently selected grey shading there will be a percentage figure in here.

Click on No Fill at the top, then OK, and your problem should disappear.

To shade the text you want shaded, first select it, then go through the above steps again. Select the shading you want. The Apply to box on the right should say Paragraph. Then click OK.

Hope that does it!

Alan

Background is applied to selection. Aug 31, 2006

1 Select all (Ctrl-A)
2 Set background to white (Format/Borders and Shading/3rd tab)
3 Select the section you want to change background of.
4 Set background to whatever you like (Format/Borders and Shading/3rd tab)

This is a procedure for Word 2003, but it is relatively basic, so should be easy to reproduce it in any version.
