Broken odt files exported

Hello,

I've been using omegaT for a few months, but I'm just coming to the end of the first largeish project I've used it for (16000 words). There are 19 files, 17 of which are correctly exported back into ODT format. Two of my files, however, are unreadable by openoffice and I'm not sure how to track down the problem (I get an error message (format error in subdocument content.xml blablabla).

I've tried validating the tags (apologies if the terminology is off, my software is in French), and OmegaT tells me that there is no problem, but there obviously is and I'm not confident of tracking down the breakage easily (not to mention the time it'll take). Does anyone have a suggestion of what the likely cause is, or a way to track it ? I suspect I've inverted tags or something and OmegaT doesn't pick it up...

Thank you very much...

Googling for the error message brings up several pages. Here's a page with one or two nice ideas:

http://www.andybrain.com/archive/mb/open-office-data-recovery.htm

What I personally would do, is to take the origina ODT file and convert it to DOC, and then conver the DOC file back to ODT, and then recreate the target file using OmegaT. But that's just me. I have no idea what's wrong with your file.

Tag inversion is detected by OmegaT, so it's unlikely to be the issue.

Which version of OmegaT are you using?

You can contact me privately, so that I can check the issue for you.

the same problem Apr 18, 2011

Hello Everybody!
I have just read this post about problem in reading target files in OmegaT.
The same happend to me.
I translated a little project using Omega T. But after translating 4/5 segments, I have checked the file in the target folder and a message from Openoffice said that tha file was corrupted and that there was an error in the column XXX. I read the web page suggested in this duscussion and I followed all the steps, bui it still does not work.
How can I work with Omega T if important files may be unreadble?
The strange thing is that before donwloading the latest version of Openoffice and of OmegaT ( I used to work with the old ones) everything worked perfectly.
Thank you very much
Alessia

When you use the function Validate Tags, do you get a short dialog saying "No tag errors detected", or you do you get a window with one or several segments?

In usual circumstances, it doesn't happen if there are no corrupted tags.

It's usually just a coincidence.

More people would be able to help you on the Yahoo support group.
