Boring... It's similar to the poll about specialisation fields we had a week ago:
http://www.proz.com/forum/poll_discussion/126542-poll:_in_how_many_fields_do_you_specialize.html

For the record: I work in 2-4 fields, depending on what we call "regularly". The technical field is dominating though.

Dear Colleagues,

I'm specialized in legal docs but I'm working in more than 4 fields.

Have a nice translation.

What is a field? I am a mechanical engineer, and I translate about engineering, but what is a field? Mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering?

Some jobs cover at least two fields Feb 9, 2009

... Like the Executive Order I translated last week, which was both law and medicine with a sprinkling of IT terminology...

Or lots of marketing jobs, which may be anything from technology to Education as well.

Beware of contracts, which are offiically law, but sometimes involve a lot of other things like maintenance technology as well.

I voted >4, and I am surprised that comparatively few others have done the same.

The little surprises are one

The little surprises are one of the things I like about this job!

Wasn't this question asked on February 2? Feb 9, 2009

I wonder how poll questions are monitored and administrated. This poll was posted on February 2:

http://www.proz.com/forum/poll_discussion/126542-poll:_in_how_many_fields_do_you_specialize.html

Is it just me, or is this essentially the same question, asked more efficiently?

I regularly work in 4 fields: computer (70% software, 30% hardware), games (40% console games, 40% PC games, 20% mobile and other games), travel & tourism and websites (with their many subfields...)

I take it... Feb 10, 2009

This has to do with the distinction between "specialist" and "working" fields in the profiles?

If so, both survey results are eminently flawed unless clarified (or seen together).

Regularly I work in more than 5 fields... Feb 10, 2009

...It can be personal documents, contracts, medical translations (too divers...), technic, computer software (articles for a famous computer magazine), different equipment etc. Generally I prefer, when my customers give me texts from different fields, so can I not so fast become bored. I expect from my customers this variety...
