I prefer not to work on more than one project at a time. For the sake of quality, I focus on whatever I am working on at the time. Otherwise, I would devote less attention to the project and the quality would suffer.

If you work on one job at a time, sooner or later you will find yourself waiting around in between projects while the next client is making up his, her or its mind.
I prefer to divide up the time I have available during the day and set aside some for jobs that I have to turn round in a few hours (newspaper journalism), some for medium-term jobs (weekly or monthly magazines and books) and leave what's left for rush jobs from the usual suspects.
Obviously, "the best laid schemes o' mice an' me (sic) gang aft agley" but having a framework of this kind can help you decide whether or not to accept any new work that might crop up.
