Missing deadlines Jan 14

This question is the kind that may come back to haunt the responders who say "Yes, I missed a deadline" because it can be played against him/her. Remember that whatever we write on the Web stays there forever.

I believe most of all miss a deadline now and then under a number of circumstances.

It would help if the poll includes a rationale or reason to ask a certain question.

Don't think any ghosts will be haunting me... Jan 14

I don't claim (on here or on my website) to be able to magically meet every deadline no matter what, there are always circumstances beyond my control that might affect meeting a deadline.

"Once a realistic and workable deadline has been agreed upon, it will be honoured (except in cases of force majeure, for acts of God, or for other extreme circumstances such as my untimely death). It is considered a matter of professional pride to adhere to all deadline arrangements within reason."

...is the exact wording on my website. The two occasions when I have had to renegotiate a deadline fall into the categories I state as exceptions (illness and realism).

Any client who would try to use this admission and "play it against me" is not the kind of client I would lose sleep over losing.

I forgot Jan 15

about one time when I had actually sent in my document, but the client didn't get it! There was some screwup with the mail server. I used my other email account and sent it from there. It was a few hours late...she ended up getting the documents from my main account hours later. I have no idea what happened but there was probably some problem somewhere along the line; no one's fault, you can never predict these things!
