Several times an hour no matter what. Jan 17

Maybe I have undiagnosed ADHD? Even if I'm working intently, I still have to get up several times to stay focused. Otherwise I get irritable. I generally prefer standing, so I'm hoping my next desk will be about four feet off the ground, with a tall stool in case I get tired.

Odd that I should have chosen a sedentary career!

Depends upon what is going on back off my mind. Jan 17

I remember those initial days of my career when I hardly move away from my desk for get everything even for lunch. All depends upon work pressure which directly related to the level of concentration I possess. On the other hand, sometimes I tried to smell the fresh air by hanging around. This all depends on the mood I am into.

Never the less my desk is the most important place in my professional career.

IF INTERESTING, I USUALLY STAY Jan 17

Really, it depends on the type of translation I perform, and the mood I am in. However, I tend to walk in my office room for a while, just for refreshment.

I get up often Jan 17

Because the physical aspect of our work is sedentary (ie, unhealthy, folks!), I get up and move often, a few times per hour. Does that affect my productivity? No, it enhances it because body movement is exercise, exercise releases endorphins and my brain functions much better than sitting sluggishly for hours on end.

Bear in mind that productivity for me has no connection with number of words I translate or write.

Besides collecting the benefit of body movement, I get up to snack on fruit, watch some TV, look out the window to see if I catch a squirrel or exotic bird, wash the dishes, do laundry, make phone calls, read in my room, etc. Life can be oh so sweet when I am not chained to my desk!

Every couple of hours or so Jan 18

I must stretch myself and do some light exercises, or go backyard and look at the top of the palm trees or the clouds in the sky to give rest to my eyes.
Like Mario, I am pretty health conscientious.

Of course I leave my computer for meals, some cookings and rumaging my refrig to find something to snack on, and when I have visitor then I do talk, negotiate, and entertain them whatever the case be.

Working at home you have to be a multitasker.
