I rarely use my desk during a normal working day (used to, but I just love the new couch, it is like work+relaxation altogether).

I leave my couch many times a day. I have a dog that needs to go out 4 times a day. He also wants me to play with him every 1-2 hours for 5-10 minutes and this is good for relaxing my eyes, mussels, mind and for exercising a little bit (he is big and requires a lot of running around )

I cannot count, but why does it matter?

Whenever I feel like it. That is the beauty of working from home, I have the freedom of working any way I want to!

I have no "normal" working day. Things can be very different: number of people calling at the door, number of cups (tea/coffee) or glasses (water) I need or feel like. Walking up and down the stairs also helps to think straight sometimes.

Oh heck, one of these polls. Whenever I need to. To go to the printer, get a coffee, go and get the post. This differs from day to day, on some days I actually dont care what is happening around me and just plough through my work.

You need a leg-stretcher Jan 17

I have a mini exercise routine for breaks between work sessions that I can do whatever the weather; I find it essential to keep mind and body stimulated and flexible. Sitting down for too long isn't a great idea.

Often Jan 17

Perhaps very often ... to do whatever needs doing get coffee, answer door, phone, go pick up/drop off my kids, walk to dog / see what the dog is barking at.
It's amazing I ever get anything done at all

I suppose it depends on several factors like deadlines etc, but my first reaction is to wonder who's counting that kind of thing. I know we're supposed to avert our eyes from the screen every so often but even that often gets forgotten in my case. I'm still struggling to find time to finish my accounts for 2011 in between translating, managing and revising texts....

Only to eat, go to bathroom and . . . Jan 17

. . . take my dogs out or feed them. They lie patiently on a large cushion in my office, and when their inner clocks tell them it's time for me to do something on their behalf, they come and remind me.

Very narrow restrictions to leave the desk.

Whenever something comes up which requires me to leave my desk - which could be a number of reasons. Excercise is not really one of the reason why I get up. Stretching can be done at the desk and I also have a wooden massage board under my desk for my feet to do the walking (without going anywhere ) To tell the truth, it has never crossed my mind to count the number of times I might get up, neither in an hour nor in the working day (or night).

I see that some people never leave the desk.
Do they eat in front of the computer?
