It really depends on where the client is based. I tend to get business mainly from either the UK or Europe and so quote in GBP or EUR as apprporiate.

I prefer to quote in GBP (coz of where I live) or EUR. Also sometimes ILS.
The only currency I don't particularly like dealing in is USD, but sometimes it's unavoidable.

I mainly quote in EUR, since most of my clients are based in Europe, occasionally in GBP and very, very rarely in USD.

Within Europe I quote in Euros. The quotes send to clients located in Asia, the USA or Australia are in USD.

CAD, or Canadian, but I quote in EUR for euro clients if they ask. These days the Euro rate to canadian dollars makes it worth it!
IF UK clients ask, i quote in GBP since some ask for 1000 wd rates.

The client can specify what he/she likes, but I do not have to be bound by that. If you buy something on the WWW, you expect to pay in the supplier's currency and think yourself lucky if they give the option of paying in yours. I try to accommodate my clients' wishes, of course, but they do not dictate the terms.
I live in the Eurozone, so I quote in EUR - that's what I need to buy my food. I have a UK bank account so am perfectly happy to quote in GBP, and if I'm particularly interested in a job and/or a client then I'll quote in anything else. However, my quote is then for the current exchange rate only. I make it very clear that if they re-order and the rate has changed dramatically, then the rate will be different (maybe in their favour!).
We're in business, don't forget. Everything is negotiable but everything must show a profit of some sort.

I have an awful feeling they are overvalued and will drop... but at the moment they cover my bills and taxes best.
As Sheila says, we're in business, so I base my rates on the currency I can use.
However, I happily accept an equivalent amount in euro or pounds - as long as I get paid.

I will quote in EUR for Euro clients, but the exchange rate and fees make my actual pay a bit more uncertain. Still, I would rather be more flexible and gain more clients, especially as my source language is in the Eurozone. I go by the "you win some, you lose some" mantra - which is easier to say with Euro rates on their way back up.

If the country of the client is also not known, I quote in my local currecy: CHF.
If it is known, then I quote in their own currency.
Other systems will not work, I think.
