I have been known to look up regular customers (with unusual names) on Facebook or LinkedIn to see what they look like, but normally only if we've been quite chatty and I'm curious. I certainly don't do it as a matter of course!

But not for deciding should I make business with this client.
Just to recognize his/her gender for adequate greetings in my pilot message.
Sometimes gender recognizing is tricky task

To be honest, I don't care at all what my clients look like. As long as we have a pleasant and reliable business relationship, that's all that matters to me really.

I generally search for companies, not people. It's part of risk management. I search for people when it comes to interpreting. Any indication of how they speak, even on YouTube, is welcome.

When I have a gut feeling that something is not going quite right.
I try to at least contact them by phone to establish trust. Personal qualities do come across in people's voices and I assume everyone to be trustworthy (until proven otherwise).

but sometimes when I check the company web site to familiarise myself with their products, or if it's a new client when I search for the company history, I find them otherwise not interested

I do regularly visit clients' websites to see what they 'look like' professionally.
I check out their products, the kind of language they use - tone and register. Sometimes the cheerful self-deprecation that sounds fine in the source language comes across as lacking in self-confidence or somehow dull in English, and I have to tweak it, or tell the client that is what I am doing. I try to match it with the rest of their image.
There is often useful terminology about products or services, and all sorts of other information.
But I am not usually worried about what the staff look like.

I've visited most of my clients' websites and not all of them have photos of the person i deal with specifically. One of my clients is on Facebook and we're pretty friendly (he lives 300 miles away) so I know what he looks like. I have a couple of other clients whose agencies are Facebook friends, and that's how I saw their pictures for the first time. However, I don't actively go out and see what people look like. But I would if i felt something wasn't totally kosher.

My clients are almost entirely juristic persons.

As long as their cheques don't bounce and they pay on time, it's all the same to me what they look like.

Especially when the company name contains a lot of "international", "worldwide", "Mega language Plus", etc.
