also, depending on the text.

Always: caffeine and adrenaline.

When the text is awful, boring and badly written in a subject I regret having accepted, the money. (In these cases, I am constantly counting the words and calculating how much money I am making... that is what mostly keeps me going).

In other cases (my favorite), my love for the profession and the challenge.

Also always: the commitment, responsibility, my word and reputation...

I agree, it's all of them, the responsibility, the money (it's what I live on), the satisfaction, pride in one's work and reputation, caffeine - and one no-one has yet dared to mention - nicotine. (It's now a criminal act to smoke in any public building in Britain so we addicts cluster together in our smoky homes to enjoy our vice - a new brotherhood is forming). It certainly keeps me going through a long and arduous job.
Regards,
Jenny.

John dared Aug 26, 2007

He dared to speak the truth...we do it for money although I chose responsibility when I first read the poll. Now I am having second thoughts and I wonder what my real drive is. Am I a capitalist pig?

P.S. Now that I think of it, I also have three kids. That must be it. Parenthood makes you superficial and material.

Not at all: Parenthood makes you responsible for people who still cannot decide for themselves.

Let's face it: in this case money = survival

In addition to this, I don't want to disappoint customers who trust me, I like the job, I take a pause from time to time, and use lots of chocolate and caffeine (fried peanuts in honey and salt sometimes help too)

but in this case, it should be possible to chose more than one answer?
I have four kids. And a cat and a dog They all need to eat. But if I didn't do this, I could do something else.
Coffee and a short walk in the woods also helps.

Café Pilão - O Café Forte do Brasil Aug 26, 2007

No. 1
No doubt about it, Café Pilão:
http://www.cafepilao.com.br/
Couldn´t live without it...

Adrenalin, the pride in rising to a challenge,
and thoughts of a nice, juicy check (and the bills that need paid, or the vacation, Christmas presents for the Mrs. and the Princess, etc. that it will buy...) all help, too.
