Dear all, it’s been a while!
I see the last powwow in Greece took place back in 2008… The last one I was able to attend dates even further back, in 2006. A lot has changed since then, especially in Greece, and of course in our profession. So how about catching up?
I would like to propose a meeting in Thessaloniki the last weekend of February (24-26.2) thinking that some people from other cities might also be able to attend combing it with a weekend excursion.
What do you think? Please share your thoughts in order to finalize time and place.

First of all welcome & nice to meet you!
“Powwows are informal get-togethers of local ProZ.com members. The events are organized by ProZ.com members, for local translators. In most cases, the events are either free or "pay your own way", ie. pay for what you eat, etc. Powwows provide an excellent opportunity for exchanging professional information and for building relationships. They are also fun!”
This is the definition of our website host, proz, and this has also been my experience in the past (http://www.proz.com/powwow_report/891). It was a fun, relaxed get away with colleagues so based on that I decided to give it another go this year.
I suggested 25.2 to have a starting point and if enough colleagues agree on that then we would go into more detail by finalizing time and place. That could be actually anything: from a coffee shop to a restaurant or even a bar; or a combination of all these.
In this sense I would suggest meeting around 20.00 which is neither early nor late and go somewhere where we could have a coffee or a beer and could even grab something to eat. Since we will be having so much fun, we wouldn’t want to spoil that cause we are starving, hahaha! The music should also be in reasonable decibels to encourage the ‘to-know-us better’ procedure.
So depending also on the number of people attending some ideas would be: Zythos, Kourdisto gourouni, Extra blatt, Kitchen bar or some other place in Valaoritu area maybe?
These are only suggestions to get us started. Shoot away! Any ideas are welcome!

Καλησπέρα Μαριαλένα απο τη δροσερή Περαία,
χάρηκα και εγώ πολύ για τη γνωριμία....και φυσικά ενδιαφέρομαι να γνωρίσω και άλλους συναδέλφους. Πολύ ωραία η ιδέα. 25.2 είναι Σάββατο απο ότι βλέπω, εγώ μπορώ και Παρασκευή. Πιστεύω όμως ότι για το Σάββατο θα πρέπει να κλείσουμε τραπέζι, άν είναι να πάμε σε κάποιο απο αυτά. Πρόταση δεν έχω να κάνω, γιατί έχω κάποια χρόνια να βγώ Σάββατο βράδυ στο κέντρο (λόγω παιδιών). Έχω υπόψη μου κάποια μαγαζιά, αλλά δεν ξέρω τι γίνεται με την ένταση του ήχου.

Now that’s an idea! A laptop with skype connection for example… Hmm, that might actually work, why not? Are there any other interested parties or any other ideas & suggestions?

Επειδή θα πρέπει σιγά-σιγά να γίνουν και κάποιες κρατήσεις τι θα λέγατε να το οριστικοποιούσαμε για:

Βλέπω εδώ 7 σίγουρες αφίξεις (του 1 ή των 2 ατόμων αλήθεια;), μήπως υπάρχουν κι άλλες; Χρειάζομαι έναν αριθμό για την κράτηση, οπότε μέχρι Τετάρτη το αργότερο θα ήταν καλά να ξέρω
Την ιδέα του διαδικτυακού την επεξεργάζομαι και μέχρι τα τέλη της εβδομάδας να δώσω και περισσότερα στοιχεία.

Καλησπέρα, υπολόγισε για 2 άτομα. Είπα στον άντρα μου άν θέλει να έρθει, αλλά δεν μπορεί να αποφασίσει ακόμη, οπότε υπολόγισε 2 για να είμαστε σίγουροι και άν δεν έρθει...... δεν πειράζει. Το οριστικοποιήσατε για κουρδιστό γουρούνι??? για να πώ την αλήθεια εγώ ήλπιζα ή για Kitchen ή Βαλαωρίτου. Φυσικά και δεν υπάρχει πρόβλημα, όπου θέλουν οι περισσότεροι... Καλό βράδυ και περιμένω την τελική ενημέρωση

Καλησπέρα και πάλι,
Λοιπόν, επειδή το μεγαλύτερο τραπέζι του μαγαζιού στον κάτω όροφο είναι 12 ατόμων το πολύ, έκρινα απαραίτητη μια μίνι ‘κατάληψη’ του πάνω ορόφου. Το μεγαλύτερο τραπέζι στο κέντρο μπορεί να είναι 15 ατόμων (που είναι και τα ήδη σίγουρα άτομα εξ όσων γνωρίζω), στο οποίο μπορούμε στη συνέχεια να προσκολλήσουμε όσα από τα μικρά περιφερειακά τραπέζια των 2 ή 4 ατόμων χρειαστούμε.
Συνεπώς, δεν υπάρχει κανένα πρόβλημα ακόμη και για όσους το αποφασίσουν τελευταία στιγμή!
Θα χαρώ να τα πούμε και να γνωριστούμε από κοντά με όλους!

Καλησπέρα!
Για όλους όσους τελικά δεν καταφέρουν να έρθουν μπορώ (χάρη στην πολύ ωραία ιδέα της Αλεξάνδρας) να προτείνω το εξής:
Δημιούργησα ένα νέο λογαριασμό skype ειδικά για την περίσταση powwow.thessaloniki , ο οποίος θα είναι ανοιχτός μέσω laptop από τις 20:00 του Σαββάτου για εγγραφές και από τις 21:00 για συνομιλίες (εύχομαι και μέσω κάμερας εάν αντέξει το δίκτυο). Θεωρητικά ακόμη και μια 3G σύνδεση θα μπορέσει να εξυπηρετήσει.
Εάν λόγω οποιασδήποτε τεχνικής δυσκολίας κάτι τέτοιο δεν είναι τελικά εφικτό, θα σας ενημερώσω μέσω του φόρουμ εκείνη τη στιγμή.
